The Story Behind A.D.U. Studios

The Studio
Working with a close circle of technicians and artisans, A.D.U. Studios creates elevated design objects and installations that invite awe, contemplation, and daily ritual.
We believe life becomes richer when we make space for meaning—small practices that slow us down and bring us back to what matters. For us, contemplation is that moment everyone knows but doesn't remember daily: looking at the night sky and experiencing complete awe toward the greater forces that make life possible.
Contemplation
We aim to recreate these moments through our design objects, encouraging daily opportunities for quiet reflection.
Contemplation cultivates patience, grace, and A Deeper Understanding (A.D.U.), enhancing our capacity to face life with kindness and hope.
Technology
We fuse natural materials like stone, glass, paper with custom-designed electronics and meticulously crafted algorithms, transforming timeless beauty into modern, responsive objects.
Our designs bridge the ancient and the contemporary, honoring the past while embracing the future.

The Artist
Vadim has always been drawn to interiors and the emotional power of objects. As a child in Antwerp, a single storefront window—his mother worked in luxury retail—left a lasting imprint: a moment where design felt like a world in itself. At home, he constantly reshaped rooms, learning early how space can change a person's state of mind.
After following a more rational path into economics and analytical work, that pull never disappeared. During the pandemic in Portugal, he finally found the time, tools, and collaborators to work in three dimensions—moving from ideas into objects. Not long after, a simple question sparked the beginning of MOON: could an object follow the Moon's phase, in real time? The first prototype was built in Lisbon with a small budget and a trusted technical team—and became the foundation of A.D.U.'s ongoing work.

The Team
All of this would not be possible without the ingenuity, patience and relentless efforts of Hiago, Jean-Michel and João, and the entire Marvilab team.
