Limited Edition
MOON Ninety Alabaster
Currently ed. 14/100
Carved from a single block of premium alabaster, MOON Ninety is the largest piece in the collection. At 900mm in diameter and barely 70mm deep, it is no longer an object on a wall. It is part of the room. Part of the rhythm of the day.
The illuminated crescent you see corresponds precisely to the moon above your location. Not a simulation. Not a pattern. The actual moon, calculated in real time.

Contemplative
There is not a civilization on earth, irrespective of religion, ideologies, and customs that has not gazed up at the moon and felt pangs of introspection and reflection.
A.D.U. creates objects for contemplation. We work with natural materials and precise technology to remind us of forces greater than ourselves, over which we have no control. Through those moments of contemplation, we remember patience, hope, and our own Deeper Understanding.
Material
Alabaster is a mineral formed over thousands of years. Each block carries a unique pattern of veins and crystalline structures that no other block will ever repeat. When light passes through it, the stone becomes translucent. The mineral layers glow from within.
MOON Ninety's alabaster is sourced from a specialist quarry in Spain, selected for its density and translucency, then finished by hand in our Lisbon atelier. No two pieces look the same. The character of the stone is part of the edition.
“A quiet reminder of forces greater than us.”
— Vadim Fortunato

How it works
MOON encodes the lunar cycle on a custom chip. After a single setup through the mobile app, it calculates autonomously. Hundreds of individually addressed LEDs illuminate the precise moon phase and angle visible from your position on Earth, updated continuously.
Two modes you can choose from.
Real: MOON illuminates only when the moon is above your horizon, and fades when it sets. The rhythm shifts daily. The moon rises roughly fifty minutes later each night. Some evenings, MOON glows at midnight. Others, it rises with the morning. You learn to notice.
Everlit: The phase still follows the real moon, but you control when the light is on, even if below the horizon. A wall sculpture you can live with daily. The moon stays true. The light adapts to you.
MOON Ninety in Context
Technical
MOON Ninety Alabaster is wall-mounted, 900mm in diameter and 70mm deep, weighing approximately 60 kg. Professional installation is required. Each piece is individually numbered, signed by the designer, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Setup is a single touch — the companion app connects MOON to your exact time and location. From there it runs autonomously. Brightness, colour temperature, and modes are adjustable through the app or the included remote. Colour temperature ranges from 1800 to 7000 Kelvin; brightness from zero to 2700 lumens. The LEDs are rated to last over fifty years, with annual energy use around 40 kWh.
Works in any country, any hemisphere. Lead time is eight to ten weeks. Design protected in the European Union and the USA (EUIPO 015022877-0001, USPTO D1081458, valid to 2040).
